While I'm trying to get Garuda installed, I've tried a few different distros - Mint, Ubuntu. I can get to GRUB no problem, but after telling it to boot (whether it's with open source or proprietary drivers) I freeze on a black screen. Attempting to install (any) distro to my laptop from a flash drive with an iso. In this case we must enable proprietary video drivers to be downloaded through Ubuntu’s updates, but that setting can only be enabled if we first boot successfully into the system, which safe graphics mode allows us to do. The black screen or persistent freezing usually indicates that a needed video driver is missing. In this tutorial, we saw how to fix an Ubuntu black screen error.
